Sue Omanga is Kenyan entrepreneur, investor, and seasoned Board member. She has extensive professional experience in the areas of marketing, business development, corporate communications, corporate social investment, and risk management. She has made impressive contributions to various industries ranging from agriculture to finance, insurance, manufacturing, and real estate. She is well networked with key business influencers, the media and government
entities across East Africa. Sue founded Exclamation Marketing Ltd in 1998, a fully-fledged marketing communications agency which serves local and international clients in East Africa and the Horn of Africa. As a broad-minded individual and independent thinker, Susan often gets called
upon for thought leadership or speaking engagements in various topics within her expertise. She is a committed proponent of the sustainability agenda in Africa. Since 2019, she has had the additional responsibility to serves as the Honorary Consul for Jamaica in the Republic of Kenya.
Susan is known as an experienced, bold Board member and change agent who provides decisive and proactive guidance particularly in complex Board matters, whilst adhering to good corporate governance. Sue was part of a Board Committee that spearheaded transformational initiatives to give KCB Bank competitive advantage and market leadership in East Africa. In May 2012 she retired from the KCBBoard afterservingamaximumof 8years. Duringhertenure in KCB, one of her key highlights was the contribution she made as member of the KCB Board’s Transformation Committee which led the restructuring the bank to propel itto a strong leadership position in the region. She is also credited for spearheading numerous CSR initiatives for KCB Foundation in the East African region and
launching the first sustainability report for the bank Over the years Sue has served in an array of Board Committees, which have included Credit, Audit, Risk and Compliance, Procurement, Finance and Governance, as well as Sales, Marketing and Distribution. These opportunities have helped harness her experience and expertise in contributing to Boards.
Currently, Sue sits on the Boards of United Bank for Africa, KETEPA (Kenya Tea Packers Ltd), and UAP Old Mutual Group where she also Chairs the Group’s Foundation. She is a Trustee of The President’s Award, Kenya. Boards that she served previously include Longhorn Publishers,
UAP Investments, KCB Bank Kenya, KCB Uganda, KCB Foundation (where she was the chairman for 6 years), Kenya Women Finance Trust (KWFT), Acumen East Africa, and Coffee Board of Kenya.
She has professional memberships at the Marketing Society of Kenya and Public Relations Society of Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Marketing with a minor in Advertising, from Rocky Mountain College, Billings, Montana, USA. Married to Dr. Charles Omanga, they have three adult sons.
